STUDENT EXAMINATION GUIDELINES
Students who fail to meet their financial obligations to ROYTEC will not be permitted to enter the examination room.
All students must adhere to the following rules for the conduct of examinations:
| 1. |
Students who fail to meet class attendance requirements may not be permitted to enter the examination room.
|
| 2. |
A student will not be allowed to enter the examination room without first presenting his/her student ID card.
|
| 3. |
Students must sign the Invigilator's Declaration sheet.
|
| 4. |
The examination will begin promptly at the time announced. Candidates must report at least 15 minutes before.
|
| 5. |
Electronic devices (e.g. pagers/beepers, cellular phones, programmable calculators, laptop computers etc.) are not allowed in the examination room.
|
| 6. |
Students are ONLY allowed to enter the examination room with instruments necessary for the exam, i.e., pens, pencils, non-programmable calculators, rulers, erasers, sharpeners. Carrying cases for these instruments are NOT allowed in the examination room (e.g. pencil cases etc.). ROYTEC must approve all other equipment.

Per ROYTEC's dress code, students are not allowed to wear the following, particularly for examinations:

Micro mini skirts |

Shorts |

Slippers |
 |
Tank Tops |
 |
Vests |

| 8. |
Students must empty all pockets (i.e., jackets, sweaters, pants, etc.) prior to entering the examination. On entering the examination room, students must show proof that pockets are empty to the invigilator.

| 9. |
Students are prohibited from entering the examination room with books, notes or any materials of that nature except where clearly specified by ROYTEC as permitted for that examination.
|
| 10. |
Students are not allowed into the examination room after half an hour after the start of the examination, unless they are permitted to do so by the Registrar's Office.
|
| 11. |
Students are not permitted to leave the examination room under 15 minutes of the start of the examination or during the last 15 minutes of the examination.
|
| 12. |
Candidates are not permitted to leave the examination room for any reason (washroom, illness, etc.) without the permission of the Invigilator. An invigilator must accompany candidates leaving the examination room.
|
| 13. |
Students must show by a raise of hand that they have completed their exam. Students must remain seated until an invigilator collects their examination script and any other material including scrap.

STUDENTS WHO DO NOT ADHERE TO THE ABOVE EXAMINATION GUIDELINES, WILL BE DEBARRED FROM WRITING THEIR EXAMINATION.
|
DEFERRED EXAMINATIONS
A deferred examination is ONLY granted to a student who was compelled to miss a final examination because of documented extenuating circumstances. He/she may apply to the Registrar with certified supporting information requesting deferred privileges. Deferred examinations are granted at the sole discretion of ROYTEC.
Deferred examinations will not be approved to accommodate vacation/travel arrangements, work commitments, participation in special events or any other circumstances within the control of the student.
ACADEMIC OFFENCES
Academic offences include, but are not limited to the following:

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the unacknowledged presentation of the work of others as one's own. To represent such work as self-created is dishonest and academically worthless.

Plagiarism includes:
 |
Quoting verbatim or almost verbatim from a source (such as copyrighted material, notes, letters, business entries, computer materials) without acknowledgement;
|
 |
Adopting someone else's line of thought, argument, arrangement, or supporting evidence (such as, for example, statistics, bibliographies) without indicating such dependence;
|
 |
Submitting someone else's work, in whatever form (such as film, workbook, artwork, computer materials) without acknowledgement;
|
 |
Knowingly representing as one's own work any idea of another.
|
|
| |
| b. |
Keeping in one's possession any unauthorized material after the start of an examination.
|
| c. |
Cheating on examinations, tests, assignments or reports, this will include but is not limited to the giving or receiving of any information or assistance, or any attempt to do so.
|
| d. |
Impersonating a candidate at an examination or test or in connection with any assignment in a course or availing oneself of the results of an impersonation.
|
| e. |
Obtaining through theft, bribery, collusion purchase or other improper manner;
 |
an examination or test paper prior to the date and time for writing the examination or test; |
 |
academic materials belonging to another person, e.g. assignments, papers, computer materials. |
|
| f. |
Falsifying or knowingly submitting false assignments or credentials, records, transcripts, or other academic documents.
|
| g. |
Submitting identical or substantially similar work for one course or program of study, without the prior express knowledge and approval of the Lecturers.
|
| h. |
Interfering with the right of other students to pursue their studies.
|
| i. |
Knowingly aiding or abetting any of the above offences.
|
| j. |
Tampering with, or altering, in any deceptive way, work subsequently presented for a review of the grade awarded.
|
PENALTIES/SANCTIONS
A student guilty of an academic offence may be subject to the imposition of one or more penalties, of which those listed below are examples:

Reprimand |
| b. |
Requirement that the student repeats and resubmits the assignment. |
| c. |
A failing grade in the assignment. |
| d. |
A failing grade in the course in which the offence was committed. |
| e. |
A failing grade in the year. |
| f. |
Suspension from ROYTEC, but not more than, three academic years or for a portion of one academic year including the academic session in which the student is currently registered. |
